Message:
This group will soon be closed!
From: Joe Sent: 24 Mar. 2006 Message 1 of 36
Bad news. I have now recieved notice from MSN Groups that the closure of adult groups is imminent.
"Your Action is Required
MSN will soon be discontinuing support for MSN Adult Groups. If you choose not to transfer your group to WorldGroups and take advantage of the rich new features, your group will not be accessible on or after March 31, 2006."
MSN Groups has some kind of cooperation with something called WorldGroups, and it is possible for Cindy and me to make the decision to transfer this group to WorldGroups before this group gets closed by MSN. I'm not sure if that is what we'll do, and we'd like to hear the opinions of you members.
The advantage of going to WorldGroups is that the group will be transfered more-or-less intact. All of the messages on the message board, all of the pictures in the photo albums, etc., get transfered. Even the member list gets transfered, and current members should be able to become members over at WorldGroups as part of the transition process (if you accept the transition).
What worries me about this possible solution is that WorldGroups, as far as I can tell, is not really interested in creating a group-like environment. What they really want to do is to earn money from horny men willing to pay for looking at porn.
Specifically, I worry that WorldGroups will not be particularly motivated to maintain the free status of adult groups. Sooner or later I fear that various kinds of payment will be needed for various services, and/or problems with the free services that develop bugs will not be maintained properly and the bugs will go unfixed so the service deteriorates.
Also, Cindy and I are proud of the fact that this group has many female members. I have serious doubts that female members will feel comfortable in the WorldGroups environment. I also doubt that new female members will ever find "Cindy and Joe" at WorldGroups because women in general will have no inclination to go to WorldGroups looking for information or community-style interaction.
Another problem is that WorldGroups require that new members provide a credit card number as proof that they are over 18. No charge, or maybe only a symbolic $1 charge, is put on the credit card. But many people do not have credit cards, and many people are too worried about their anonymity to be willing to provide a credit card number when getting into a sex-related web site.
(The credit card requirement would not apply to current members of "Cindy and Joe" who accept to be moved to WorldGroups as part of the transition from MSN Groups. But it will apply to all new members.)
OK, what do you members think?
- Does moving to WorldGroups sound like a good idea?
- Can you suggest an alternative hosting that is better? (I've looked at Google Groups and think that it's too primitive.)
- Should I try to create a simple group-like environment at http://cindyandjoearchive.com/ ?
- Is it time to let "Cindy and Joe" fade into the sunset?
Yours,
Joe (and Cindy)

The last thing I would like to see is this group fade away into the sunset. I know I haven't contributed much to this site but it's only because, I'm currently single. I do however look forward to all the weekly updates. I hate the fact that these major corperations are all shying away from anything adult oriented... Yahoo, MSN, PayPal, EBay... etc. As far as where this forum should end up...it's anybody's guess... I just don't know enough about it to give an educated suggestion.
All I know is Groups like this are hard to find.
What a Shame!

Hi Cindy and Joe
Just to say a big thanks. Because of you guys we have started our fun adventures at a very mature age. lol
It would be awful to lose your group, We know very little about interrnet organisation. So really have to leave that side to more experienced people.
However we can undertake to post more pics in the future.
Please let us know what's happening in the future.

Hi Cindy and Joe, I have moved a small group of my own over to world groups already. When you move the group, if you decide to, all the members go too and no credit card is needed as you can just register your msn nickname and then create a password for world groups. They look like a cross of msn and yahoo groups, but alot like msn. once your nick is registered you can roam freely in world groups and even join other groups by applying just like msn. The move is real easy and all messages and content go right along with the transfer.

I don't know anything about the technology of how, where to make a similar group for us. I DO KNOW YOU ARE A SPECIAL GROUP, AND MANY OF US WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE SOMEWAY, PLEASE. If you think you have an alternate to world groups that might be the way to go. I also sense they may not be the best way to go. Love you guys and thanks for all your hard work. Please let us know before the close of the group.

Hi Joe, Hi Cindy, greeting from the hypocritical U.S.A. MSN is an American company correct?? It's funny who chooses our freedoms of speech, art and sexual knowledge, I believe it is a violation of my first amendent right, but enough of me spouting off. I love this group. What a great bunch of real people, good info, great help, sexy photos and in one small space we are all united for the same purpose: pleasure and pleasuring others. please keep my e mail address as I want to stay with this group. Good luck, i hope we all stay a tight knit family..or rather a little loose (wink) Have a great awesome day!!!! ~ Lorie

Hi Joe (and Cindy, of course!),
I hope you will find a way to continue. It would be a great loss if

ok heres my suggestions for what its worth joe. question number 1.. i dont know if its a good idea or not but it might be ok to do until you can find the proper group site . at least shouldnt lose what we do have compiled on this group. i have questions and reservations bout the world groups too since i have a private adult group site on msn as well... question number 2 i dont know about that yet im still researching that myself.. i dont particularly like yahoo and google groups they seem to be very limited in functionality. question three.. that might very well be the best solution but its going to take time and a lot of effort an i realize you guys have a life to lead outside of the internet. ( this is why i said earlier that it might be ok to go to world groups till you can decide on a better place. it would give you time to work on adding a group feature to cindyandjoes.com as your schedule permits or give you time to explore other options).question number 4 ABSOULTELY NOT TIME FOR CINDY AND JOES TO FADE INTO THE SUNSET! I am still in the learning stages myself and I want to learn more and i will be very sad if my main encyclopedic source disappears forever. I have learned so very much from this site and have you and your members for expanding my mind and introducing me to pleasures that I never had any idea was even existed much less was possible. For that i am eternally grateful and have sent quite a few people here myself when they start asking questions about fisting or large objects and have concerns. Let me add to all this joe.. that if i can be of any help in any way please dont hesitate to ask me.. i am willing to help ya do what ever you need me to.

Hi Cindy and Joe
This group has been invaluable to us. It allowed us to have an informed discussion regarding vaginal fisting and although my partner has decided not to try it, hence my lack of contributions, I think its an invaluable resource to those interested in this subject. I check out what's new every week and especially enjoy the pics and movies. I would hate to see this group close. Sorry I have no ideas to help in solving the problem.

Hello Joe and Cindy;I very much hope that something can be done to keep your (OUR) site going. After several years of being a member I have always felt a kinship with the other members and a deep appreciation for your work at a wonderful and needed site for many people who share our interests, both in this group and the many, many more who have yet to find it. Unfortunately those people may never get the chance to experience the warmth and community that you have provided for us.I can only hope that you are able to continue with your wonderful work with this group somewhere, somehow.I will and know all the other members will also follow the group anywhere if possible.Thankyou so very much and good luck.
PS Breaking up this community of like minded people would be much like going into a village of people and telling them they all have to move because the counsil of another city don't like the way we live.I am deeply saddened, Cookie (Dave)
From: isadore Sent: 24 Mar. 2006 Message 13 of 36
Joe and Cindy;
It is indeed a shame that the powers that be are not open minded enough to continue hosting this most informative and diverse site.
As for the proposed move to WorldGroups, I would not feel comfortable in that environment, where the degredation of service would be immenint. I also have a problem with the Google groups; their servers keep all ISP numbers and forward them to the US gov't.!! read about gmail.
The creation of a group is allright with your provider? or will another move be required? As for the fourth option - NO.
Alternatives 1/ would sites somewhat like ASSTR or literotica be a viable option?
2/ the creation of your own group, with out the possibility of another move.
I hope that these suggestions are valid and constructive.I would not like to see this site "fade away" it is much too valuable to all of us.
always yours,
isadore

Hi Joe, I reckon that it can`t hurt to give World groups a go. If it turns out that they are the money grubbing porn barons that we all fear that they may be, you can always close the group or move it over to the format that your archive is on. Lets face it tho, the clock is ticking for groups like this. It seems that the pedo`s have pissed in the pool so everyone may have to get out. So we (Mal&Babe) hope that we will still see Cindy and Joe group around for a long time yet in whatever form it may take.

Well, quite honestly, I won't going. Don't get me wrong, I love this site and how it's run now. I do not agree with a site asking for my credit info, just for the right to use there site. I can understand, that they might do this for there saftey. In that it confirms you are an adult. But, once they have your info what kind of protection for the info do they have in place? Check with google, see what there set up is, and how they ask what kind of backup, and tracking of users they do? I mean, if you go in to any large site nowadays, they track the ip's. It's a cold hard fact of life, the only thing they worry about, is real nuts. The ones who use the net for very bad things like like those child porn sickos. Keep up the good work.

I have sat in the back ground for a long time. Not
that I want add or take away any thing, The thing is my wife has a few
health problems, and from what you and the group has said has helped us when
we have been to the doctors. In saying all that with what is goning on now
whith the group I know you have put in alot of work maintaining the group
and could do with a rest? So I will only say new things always scares us not
wanting to change, for me I say give it a go for a while and see how it
works it it doesn't then pull the plug. Thanks for all your time and help, I
hopes this helps you in weighing up your mind on what to do.

I have never used them, but here is another similiar groups website. http://www.smartgroups.com/
I checked and they do allow adult groups, but that's as much as I've checked.
Same with this group. Never used them but they allow adult groups under the society & Culture category. http://lists.topica.com
Maybe this helps, but I just hate to see the list close!

Cindy and Joe, I guess it is pretty obvious from the replies that we do not want "Cindy and Joe" to fade into the sunset! It is much too appreciated as a source of information and sensuous excitement and warm openness. So, a resounding NO!! to letting the "Cindy and Joe" group fade into the sunset!! That makes about as much sense as Cindy "retiring" when she is still so full of vibrant sensuousness and has such a joyful attitude when sharing herself (and you) with us all. Though I do not have a partner at present, I have learned so much from your group and consider it a fastastic place to spend time. The sharing and caring and great excitement that is obvious in the group would be a terrible thing to see end. Please, if there is any way possible, keep the group going. Even if you have to shift over to WorldGroups and see how they work out. If it does not look like they will work out, then hopefully something else can be worked out. Unfortunately, I am so close to computer illiterate that I cannot begin to suggest an alternative way of hosting the group. I wish I could!!
But, whatever takes place, please know that I have appreciated and enjoyed your group. In a friendly and open way, you two (and other participants in the group) have shown that, between those that enjoy it, ANYTHING CAN GO!! And you have shown and taught that, between those that aren't sure they can do it, if they exercise care, patience, and persistence, ANYTHING CAN GO!! And you have shown that ANYTHING CAN GO and be tons of fun for both or all involved. If nothing else could be learned from the group that would be a major asset to people!
Anyway, my vote is to do whatever you can to continue the group. It is a valued source of information, encouragement, and excitement. And the raw, eye-popping, sensous sex depicted is certainly another wonderful aspect of the group!!
You guys are GREAT!!! Heres hoping to see the "Cindy and Joe" group for a long, long time to come!!!!!

Yes, Joe.
Since you ask you must be thinking about it. Do that. I will miss you but it could be for the best. Seems that Cindy also wants to take a rest. This kind of work can be very tiring and after so many years, will take its toll.
I suspect the work will go on regardness, but the new people on the scene will be greedy and less scrupulous. Times are changing. Genuine love,
Tommy

This is a real shame. But WorldGroups may not be as bad as you think. Makes sense to try it out; you can always cancel the group later.
That credit card thing is suspicious, though. I would have kept me from joining this group, back in the day, had that been the policy then.
Good luck with the decision. Clearly not an easy one.

I hate to say it but I will miss you if you go to worldgroups.I tried to sign up there and as soon as I saw that they wanted my credit card # I cancelled. I think if the sign up was really free then I would go there. Is it possible to add a messege board to your other website? Maybe modify it so people can add pics? I'm sure there are people here, including me that would be willing to help run the site as moderators if you dont have the time. Or what if you add a donations button to help pay for hosting? just a thought. :)
From: sewsueme54 Sent: 26 Mar. 2006 Message 23 of 36
It is not going to cost anything and you won't need to use your credit card.
All you have to do is transfer your info from MSN to WorldGroups. You
have to wait until the links are in place, which will be about a week after
the group is set up.

Not sure what will happend next but ask that you keep me and the other members posted. You, and your site, helped me convince my lover that I was not the only one who preferred real women over little girls with tight shaved pussies.

I tried to start a new thread with this post but MSN would not allow me to create a new thread at this point, unless this group is moderated. I wanted to draw more attention because I've been to WorldGroups. I will try again, after posting it here.
What WorldGroups is like... for me
In another group that transferred, I tried to migrate my account over to WorldGroups. The address of almost every link over there ends in ".exe". This does not work in my browser, Internet Explorer 5.00 under Windows 98 SE. Consequently, I could neither view any pictures nor even "list" links to the pictures. As for the board, only older messages dating from last year had been transferred. All the rich HTML content available to MSN members had been removed. What was left looked like the plain text on Yahoo but the font was too small for me. I was only able to do this on a "PREVIEW" to see what it would look like. I could not log in for real because the link to do so invoked another ".exe" file. Had I been able to log in properly, things might have been better but I don't know. With my "antiquated" browser and operating system, I got about a dozen script errors per page and the pages took forever to load. As an experiment, I let one page try to load for 40 minutes while I cooked and ate a meal. The page was still loading after I had finished eating. Pages that did load often took five to ten minutes each. Again this may be my antiquated hardware and software but I suspect that WorldGroups is designed for people with high speed connections and web cams, perhaps requiring Windows XP as well. Also WorldGroups added 10 extra keys to my Windows registry in one instance, and 12 extra keys in another instance. This happened just for visiting their pages in trying to sign in - I'm in the dark as to whether this is for "security" or tracking purposes. I have written WorldGroups twice about all the problems and have received no reply. I complained via a form on one of their pages. I DID NOT find a "contact us" E-mail address but did find "toll free" telephone numbers plus ONE postal address in New Zealand. Following the link that MSN provided, I was _NOT_ asked for my credit card. A member of another group wrote that he was asked for his credit card, and all the pictures were blurred with "UPDATE" in the middle of every picture. He said, WorldGroups was charging for this "UPDATE" and they wanted about $20.00 per month for full access, something like $19.95 per month. He did not say how he tried to create an account, whether migrating through MSN or not. I suspect, all new members to WorldGroups (those who do not transfer from MSN) will be asked for their credit card and have to pay for everything. WorldGroups is not for me. Even if I find another login page that does not throw my browser the error that always stops me, the pages are still far too slow for me and have too many activeX controls, scripts and ".exe" files running. Below is a screen capture of the error that always stops me from logging in properly. In my opinion, Yahoo is primative as you say but preferable to WorldGroups. I hope, you may find another domain that hosts something akin to MSN adult groups.
- I wish you all well; Robert
From: bis Sent: 27 Mar. 2006 Message 28 of 36
Joe have you checked with msn support directly to make sure this isnt just some hoax from worlgroups trying to get users?
If it is legit then I see no reason to move to worldgroups when there are so many other true free non restrictive services out there.
Myspace would be my reccomendation
From: Robert_5441 Sent: 27 Mar. 2006 Message 29 of 36
I see now that your board is moderated, am sorry that I tried to post the same message twice PLUS E-mail it to all members, earlier today. I just wanted to get the word out since I've experienced what WorldGroups is like first hand. I'm not saying that the site performance would be as poor for everybody - Again, this might be a reflection of my operating system. Since according to MSN, they will be deleting your group anyway, you may as well transfer and see how it works for you. If you find it as bad as I did, then you could always abandon the transferred group. I'm not sure whether or not the option remains to delete the group once it is transferred to WorldGroups. By my reckoning, money is the main reason why MSN is doing this. In America, there has been another ultra conservative right wing wave going on as seems to happen more often when the Republicans* are in the white house (*There have been a few good Republican administrations so I'm not entirely biased). Since these are the people with the loudest voice at present, MSN policy is going to reflect their wishes and this is going to be reflected in MSN's global policy. I suspect that the pendulum will reverse as it always does but perhaps not for another four years. Also, MSN sold the rights to its adult groups to WorldGroups. They may say, its all about protecting the children but its really all about money.
From: KnightOwl-J Sent: 27 Mar. 2006 Message 30 of 36
It would be very unfortunate for this group to fade away. There are obviously many folks that enjoy this honest, friendly community and trust those here for advice and sharing of experiences - myself included. The great outpouring of member concern speaks loudly. Regarding WorldGroups, maybe I'm a little paranoid, but a credit card requirement would keep me from joining a group. So, I'm thankful this group didn't require it. I was thinking some of the same ideas as Fetish_Junkie, especially the one about donations. If contributions would make it possible for you to host the group under better circumstances, maybe that could be an option to try. Since I'm already a member, I'll probably follow you wherever you choose to go. Though I've only contributed a few times, I'd hate to lose touch with the quality of information and entertainment you've established here.
Best wishes to you and the rest of this community, on whatever paths you choose to take. Thanks again, Cindy & Joe, for sharing so much.

need a credit card to verify age.

I went on and transferred my group since MSN will soon delete it anyway but still can't get in for reasons already stated. Cindy & Joe, I think that your decision to not transfer is for the best. I took a screen capture of the WorldGroups terms and conditions durring the transfer process. Apparently transferring your group gives them the rights to use any and all uploaded material in any manner, they see fit. As for my own group, all the content that was left was either my own "clip art" or had been surfed up on the web from commercial sites. There was no personal material left. All members had long since deleted their albums and no harm was done. This may not be the case for your group and I've little doubt that WorldGroups intends to sell the original content that they get whenever expedient... but don't take my word for it. Read their terms and conditions below. Also they are too puffed up with themselves. As part of transferring my group, I had to click a link, sending an "invitation" to all members of all my groups to "sign up". There were alternative things to click on but none of them worked in my browser. Only the links that they wanted me to click seemed to work and I could not advance to the next "transfer step" without clicking something. It all seemed pretty manipulative to me although it could be coincidence that only their most recommended links worked in my browser. In sending the "recommended invitation", I typed a little disclaimer in it but don't know if that remained. At best, maybe it never got sent because it invoked another ".exe" file. Again, read the WorldGroup terms and conditions below. Particularly, read their "Publication & Distribution" section:
[Screen shot not archived. The relevant text is: "Publication & Distribution: By agreeing to these terms of use, you hereby grant WorldGroups express permission to display all such retrieved materials and content on the WorldGroups platform."]
I have a bad gut feeling about WorldGroups. It's not a good atmosphere over there. Do you think, maybe I'm too paranoid? Perhaps their disclaimer only amounts to giving them permission to display your own material in context of your own group, as you intended. I could be wrong but this sight conjures up images of sleazy, greased up pimps or barkers in loud flashy clothes, lots of neon lights and glitter, lol. I for one will never give them my credit card. I wouldn't feel safe.
