It looks like this is true, in that there is similar information on the "Community Feedback" group, a place I trust.

If there are major problems ahead, then it may be that Cindy and I decide to just close things down. But let's see - the transition that is apparently coming may be fairly painless.

Incidentally, if this MSN group ever just disappears, then we will post information on our "front-end" web site, www.CindyAndJoe.com, informing everyone of what our intentions are.

Well, it looks like it's finally happening. I've received an e-mail from MSN Groups saying that adult groups will have to move to an alternative hosting now. They recommend one specific service called WorldGroups, and even say that an MSN group can be moved automatically, with complete content, to WorldGroups.
I'll be doing more research into the situation.
As I mentioned previously, if this MSN group ever just disappears, then we will post information on our "front-end" web site, www.CindyAndJoe.com, informing everyone of what our intentions are.

Ah yes, welcome to the increasingly puritanical American society under the guidance of the Grand Old Party. If you enjoy having the freedom for people like Cindy and Joe to share their sexual experiences with you than you better get wise and stop voting for the conservative Republicans who are responsible for the current state of things.
Cindy & Joe, sorry that you will have to move or shut this group down. I hope you find another comfortable place on the net that is more open minded and tolerant.

MSN to Close Adult, Mature Groups
By Ed Oswald, BetaNews
September 21, 2005, 2:04 PM
BetaNews has learned that MSN plans to remove mature and adult rated communities from its MSN Groups service in late November. The groups would be moved to a third-party site, WorldGroups, which will handle all adult categorized groups for the service after the transition.
Users will be unable to create or change a group's classification as "adult" or "mature" after October 19. This would be followed by a lockdown of content on these groups on November 2, and then removal of the groups from MSN on November 28.

Regarding Google Groups, does anyone have any experience with them? Especially regarding how Google Groups regards and treats adult-rated groups?
As for the fact that things are happening later than expected/feared, I don't think that implies that it is not going to happen. According to information on this thread:
http://groups.msn.com/CommunityFeedback/general.msnw?action=get_message&mview=0&ID_Message=996632
the forced conversion is now being inflicted on those MSN groups created by Australians. (Why Australians? Who knows. Perhaps just to have a test group of a limited size before forcing all MSN groups to convert.)
I think it's just a matter of time before MSN and WorldGroups feel that they have worked out all the problems with the Australians and then we will have to convert or move elsewhere.
