Message: What do i need to open videos with?

i have downloaded a video but i don't know what to open it with or even if i have anything to open it with,can you help me out?

This can get rather technical, but here are some tips. It depends a lot on the file name "extension", i.e., the last part of the file name after the period, because this tells what kind of video format is used. For example, all of the Cindy video clips have file names like "cindyjdv.mpg", so the extension is MPG.

Video clips with extension AVI, WMF and WMV usually play best with Windows Media Player. Files with extension MOV require Apple's QuickTime viewer. Files with extension RM require the Real Media player. Files with extension MPG or MPEG should work with any player. There are also some newer formats that use something called DivX, but I haven't bothered to learn about them yet.

Forgot to mention that if you have a suitable viewer program installed, then it should automatically get invoked when you double-click on the file in question.
