Status news for Web Communities

Feature Revisions 09/26/01
Mid next week (10/3/01), we will begin requiring a valid credit card number in your Passport wallet to participate (join, post, upload) in adult-rated communities. Your credit card number will be kept secure and confidential and there is no charge for this service. This requirement will provide increased protection to children using MSN services and decrease the posting of illegal content in adult communities. The activation date of this feature is subject to change and will be updated here as needed.

> "(10/3/01), we (MSN) will begin requiring a valid credit card number..."

4 days is not much notice!

I for one wish to remain anonymous, and will not give MSN my 'credit card number' to use their communities. Possibly MSN will allow 'old existing' members of 'Communities' to remain members without this requirement. If MSN enforces this, I wish to thank the many members here who have been my good friends... and goodby.

Any members that have news about this, or an alternative answer to this new problem, please post to this thread.

Now that MSN has successfully stopped us from posting videos on the clubs, and basically limits us to messages and pictures, I say we move.

I know Cindy and Joe would love to move again LOL just kidding, but what else can we do?\

I have a couple of suggestions....

yahoo groups instead of the clubs, although I don't really see anything wrong with the yahoo clubs these days, aside from the fact that they do not post a list of the adult clubs anymore. However, they have never in my experience removed a fisting club.

The other alternative is for a member of THIS club to host a club for us. I MIGHT be willing to do such a thing. The only problem with this, is that like MSN, I too do not want underage kids in the club. What a conundrum! Everyone wants to remain annonymous, but yet everyone wants the club to be over 18 (or 21 in my opinion).

I guess what it comes down to.... how important are the pictures to everyone? The message board is really the only thing I care about anymore. The pictures and videos are nice, but interation with the members is really what I like.

Ok, I'm done rambbling now.

Soze

P.S. Does MSN really feel the credit card number is the answer? I had a credit card when I was 16 for crying out loud.

Kayser,

I agree that Yahoo 'Groups' are the best. I belong to some Yahoo 'Groups' which I think are better than their 'Clubs'... as you can add 'attachments' of very__long__ video clips to routine 'Messages' and even post long 'Files' in the 'File Section' of Yahoo 'Groups'. This can 'not' be done on Yahoo 'Clubs'.

Yahoo seems to allow a much larger number of megabytes in their 'Groups' than their 'Clubs'... as I mentioned in a previous post here.

On one Yahoo Group, that I belong, they post dozens of clips and some posts use the .001 .002 .003... system. On those I use a free program called 'HJ-Split' to put them all together... so I have clips of many megabytes to view... after they are joined together!

These 'Yahoo Groups' can be 'approval only' by the administrator... to prevent children, nuts, and spammers from entering. (I have erased 4 spam posts here in the last 2 days).

Since Yahoo took over E-Groups they have not restricted anything... like they did on their Yahoo Clubs. To me, Yahoo Groups seems to be the best choice to move to... If Cindy and Joe wish to do so. It might solve our 'file storage' problem at the same time!

You know Zappa....

If you ever want any videos... I have over 2Gb of fisting videos. Some of them as large as 50Mb and over 15 min long....

Thanks Kayser!
As to requiring credit card numbers, I think small children are smart enough to copy down those card numbers from their parents receipts, and use them... knowing that MSN says they will not to bill those cards. They surely know their parents would NEVER catch them unless those cards were billed.

MSN must know this is no solution at all. On a free site, there is no complete answer. First Amendment Rights on the Internet need to be preserved. Parents should be responsible for installing Gun Locks on Guns and Child Protection Software to keep children out of Adult Sites.

As a back up to that, I think Group Administrator approval by intelligent administrators is a better procedure than sending in some 'number' easily available to all kids who are not blind.

Dear Friends:
I for one doubt very much that MSN's new policy has anything to do with protecting minors. What we are witnessing is nothing more than a textbook example of diplomacy. "Diplomacy" -- the fine and gentle art of telling someone to go to hell in such a manner that s/he actually looks forward to the trip. MSN is more concerned with knowing who is who on their message boards so that when the CIA or FBI come knocking with their suboena's they can give up your personal data without too much headache trying to sort out aliases and nicknames. Running to Yahoo is IMO not much use because (you can start your stopwatch now) they too, will be implementing such a scheme in the not too distant future. Privacy as we knew it before 911 is dead.

To be honest with you all... I don't really care WHO knows I visit Cindy and Joe's page. Although I TOTALLY agree with being anonymous.

What am I more worried about? I'll tell you....

There is no place in the world (except maybe the pentegon) that more hackers try to get into each year than Microsoft. What happens to all of our credit card information if a hacker gets in and manages to steal it? Point of the matter is, half of all corporate espionage (including stolen files) is done by employees.

Do I want to give them my CC number... no.

You hit the nail on the head with that one. Glad to see I am not then only one that can see the "forest for the tree's"

If Cindy and I have to move "Cindy and Joe" once again I think we'd want to move to something completely under our own control. It's getting tedious moving due to conditions beyond our control.

We left FeISTyman / fistingsex.com because we got into an argument with Aldonze about sex vs. misuse of other human beings, and FeISTyman sided with Aldonze. (Just for the record, we still think Aldonze is an asshole who misuses his "bitches", and that beating someone to unconsciousness repeatedly is not sex, it's brutal violence.)

We had to leave Excite Clubs because they closed the service down. I understand that their mismanagement has resulted in the whole company going bankrupt recently.

Now MSN Communities is becoming less and less attractive. First they made posting of video clips impossible and now it begins to look like the start of a witch hunt, perhaps connected to the change in political power in the White House. (Apropos, why can't you Americans figure out how to have a political system where you elect the president who gets the most votes?)

Anyway, if we move again it will probably have to be to a server under our own control. I'll look into this if/when the situation gets worse.

Yours,
Joe
