Message: Cindy video clips and pics on FreeDrive

Hello all,

Ever since MSN made it impossible to post video clips here in MSN Communities (by setting the maximum file size to 1 MB) I've been looking for a good home for the Cindy video clips. I've used both i-drive and DiskOnNet but aren't satisfied with either, and I've looked at 10 or more alternatives, at least.

Now I've decided to follow Kayser Soze / The Dude's advice and try using FreeDrive. Specifically, I've signed up for their "PowerDrive" service which gives up to 150 MB of storage and should provide unlimited downloads.

I've uploaded all of the current Cindy video clips and photos and other Cindy-related files to FreeDrive. I've even uploaded a special version of Cindy's First Fisting Video which consists of a single 38 MB MPG file running 7 minutes 42 seconds!

To access the Cindy files on FreeDrive you should click on the following link:

You will be prompted to create a FreeDrive of you own, and after you've done that you will have access to the Cindy files. (If you already have a FreeDrive you can just log in and then you'll have access to the Cindy files.)

If you're missing any of the Cindy video clips I encourage you to try getting them from FreeDrive. Same applies if you would like to have the special all-in-one-file version of Cindy's First Fisting Video.

On the other hand, if you already have all of the Cindy video clips then you may as well wait until the next new Cindy video clip is produced before going through the motions of getting access to the new "Cindy and Joe" FreeDrive.

I am so fed up with trying to find a good place for the Cindy video clips!

The so-called PowerDrive service at FreeDrive is advertised as providing "Unlimited Public Sharing", but it looks like their idea of "unlimited" doesn't quite match mine.

I've sent an angry e-mail to FreeDrive but I doubt it will make any difference. So I guess all I'll be able to do is to contest the credit card charge when it comes and start looking for some other web site that provides real unlimited downloads. Suggestions are, as usual, welcome.

More news from the FreeDrive front.

I still don't know what the "download limit" is all about, but I was able to download a file today. I'd appreciate feedback about how often this limit is in effect and is preventing downloads.

Another problem I've discovered is that with version 5.5 of MS Internet Explorer and version 7.0 of MS Windows Media Player it is not possible to simply download an MPG file to your local hard disk. Clicking on "Download" results in the MPG being played on-line, and there is no obvious way to copy the file to a specific folder on your hard disk.

One way of getting the files is to find them in IE's temporary files folder and to copy them from there after you've viewed the files and closed Windows Media Player. In IE click on Tools - Internet Options - Temporary Internet files Settings - View Files. Wait for the file list to be displayed, and then sort them by Last Accessed date/time. Browse through the list of files recently used by IE and you should be able to recognize the video clips by their size. Click on each file and do an Edit - Copy, and then in Windows Explorer do an Edit - Paste into the folder where you want the file.

A simpler way of downloading the video clips and photos from FreeDrive is to download and install the FD Desktop program which is available at FreeDrive. This has the advantage of allowing you to download a whole folder of pictures or video clips at once.

Assuming, of course, that downloading from FreeDrive is working at all that day :-(

I've gotten information from FreeDrive about the download limit. They claim that my $10 per month PowerDrive subscription gives a limit of 750 MB of downloads per day. This is a theoretical 22 GB per month, which is actually a pretty good deal.

I've tested a couple of times during the last 3 days and have not observed any lock-out due to the download limit. So until further notice I've decided to stick with FreeDrive.

periodically freedrive will reset the limit . if right clicking and save as doesn't work . then left click and a message comes up as to when the limit will be reset.

I'm not sure what you mean by "I get accsess to your file but there is nothing in it." I have just checked the files and they look OK to me.

Can you see the file listings, with the names of the files and their sizes and upload date (8 April 2001)? If so, then there must be something wrong with the way you are trying to download them. (Not necessarily something wrong with your actions, but perhaps your software is incompatible with FreeDrive.) For example, are you using a very old version of MS Internet Explorer or Netscape?

Joe I first must thank you for trying to answer so fast.The problem may be that i am on AOL but i am not sure.When we click on your short cut link we sign in and it opens a new window that has a 3 files labeled (1)Cindys shared folder (2)my folder (3)free stuff . We click on Cindys folder and we get 1 file and there folders the file says it takes up 2kb of space the folders take up 0kb of space.When we click on the folder that says Cindy video clips theres nothing in it.I hope this gives you more info on how to help us.I hope it not from us being to stupid to figure out something that seems kinda simple.Thanks in advance Joe for any all help and good health to you and you wife Cindy. That's strange. When I try it, it works OK. Does anyone else experience this?

All I can suggest is to try with a different non-AOL computer/connection, or try using the FD Desktop program available at FreeDrive, or try sacrificing an old Netscape diskette while praying to Bill Gates, or ...

I downloaded all clips with minimal problems they do have a limit but its only per user not file. Double click all cindy files to access the files.
