Message:
Urethra sensitivity?
From: UsManiacs Sent: March 16, 2000 Message 1 of 9
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone else experiences this?
My urethra is almost if not more sexually sensitive than my clitoris! It has become more so in the last year--or maybe I noticed it more in that time! But I find when masturbating, if I rub it alone, I can orgasm from just that! Of course it feels even better with combined penetration.
Luckily this extra stimulation hasn't caused any bladder infections yet, but I do know it is possible. Anyway to prevent this and still enjoy the fun?

This is very common.
Just don't get extremely rough or carried away with strong stimulation around the urethra, to prevent infection as well injury leading to urethrocele or cystocele (looseness or dropping of the urethra or bladder) and urinary problems. I have seen women who have an extremely huge vaginal size but have no bladder problems at all with the bladder staying up very high.. even when the vaginal opening will stretch open to many inches. But others who overstimulate the front side around the urethra sometimes even have a much smaller vaginal size and marked dropping of the urethra (urinary tube) and thir bladder, causing urinary problems.
Moderate pressure and stimulation usually will not do this. The most common cause of this is a rapid birth, where there has not been enough time for the firm back wall of the vagina to stretch downward. In that case, the infant's head pushes very very hard against the front vaginal wall.. tearing these structures.
Slow deliveries during the last stage, and some stretching weeks before delivery (by the husband) and stretching during the last stage (usually by the doctor) often prevent this. However, it is best to ask your OB Doctor about his opinion on this before delivery. My rule of thumb has been, fast and rough cause tearing, and slow and gentle does not.

Zap, got a medical question of sorts for you, want your opinion. I will be asking my doctor later this week. Last time I was fisted, I came so hard at one point it felt like something burst in the upper front part of my pelvic area--a burning, wet, exploding feeling inside. It was extremely painful and we had to stop. This was not inside my vagina but on the other side of it. At 1st I was concerned I had popped my bladder, but I had no urinary pain or problems from it.
I have no uterus or ovaries, so it wasn't a cyst that I know of. Any ideas? I was in alot of pain for 2 days then it went away on it's own. It was the 1st time this ever happened.

It was probably just a "pulled muscle" as they can feel like something pops.
The muscles that surround the vagina can contract and spasm (sometimes very hard) especially during orgasms. If you ever had a muscle in your leg "over contract", it is an uncontrollable thing that is often called a "Charlie-horse" (or muscle contraction pain).
Those can be very painful and sometimes make the region painful for days.
Since it was to "on the other side", that seems to me to be the probable cause. Only if it continues, would you need to see your doctor about it.

Yep I saw him and he thought it might have been an adhesion that tore loose. Had sex last night with no problems, so whatever it was is gone now ;)

Must have been a worrying experience, whatever it was that happened to you.
You really have a deluxe model body Gina, being able to come from stimulating your urethra! You lucky girl :-)
Mine is rather sensitive and doesn't want to be rubbed or overly stimulated.
One way to have an ounce of prevention when it comes to bladder infections is to pee soon after having sex. Or so I've heard... It is supposed to flush out any bacteria that may have wanderer up into the urethra.
Love,
Cindy

Cindy, that is good advice to flush out germs, as this so called, "honeymoon cystitis" is due to urethral infections from action around the urethral opening. Urinating after sex is a very good thing to help keep infections away.
Gina, your doctor may have been right about adhesions, as I seem to remember you mentioning recent surgery to have caused that. Usually tearing those adhesions loose may be a good thing, but sometimes they can come back.
Surgery is sometimes absolutely needed, but to avoid "cutting down on the fun", many GYN surgeries can be postponed until one is older and their active sex life is diminished. Always get a second opinion on this.

Hi Cindy,
It is always a good idea to urinate after sex, and also after taking baths, etc. I do it both before and after, since a full bladder can make sex painful as well. I know my urethra wasn't always this sensitive, it seems to have become this way over time. It is now as senstive and pleasurable as my clit or g-spot. So now I seem to have an extra way to cum :) Woohooo!
And Zap, yes I definitely need another opinion and hope to avoid any more surgery as surgery begets more complications in the long run, especially for me. It seems tearing that adhesion loose was just what I needed as now I can take much more fisting without pain for the 1st time since my hysterectomy last year. I really feel I can get back up to 2 hands again now, whereas before that tearing thing, I was barely able to enjoy a full fist depthwise.
Gina :)

Gina, I would like to advise you, as to what you can now do.. however, I can not do so. The most difficult thing to determine would not be width.. but depth.
Without knowing your tissue strength, the exact surgical procedures you have had, doing a complete exam, and much other information, your capabilities would be extremely hard to estimate. I also hate to leave you.. to try to figure out what you can now do.. on your own.
No two people are alike and often no two surgeries are alike. My only advice would be to find a very good doctor and follow his/her recommendations. The surgical variable.. changes everything.
