Message:
Fisting when pregnant?
From: scottish fister Sent: 18 April 2002 Message 1 of 6
Hi All,
This group just get better and better!
My wife and I have enjoyed fisting for the past couple of months due to the massive amounts of advice within the group!
Now that she is pregnant we are worried about continuing our fisting activities, should we be stopping this or are we safe to continue?
Hope to enjoy the group for many years to come

I was hoping someone else would answer, but seeing as how that hasn't happened yet, here's my opinion (and Cindy's).
During the first 2-3 months we don't believe there should be any problems.
During the last 2-3 months we think it would be a good idea to avoid vaginal fisting, partly because the cervix may be opening up and you don't want any bacteria or anything else going up into the womb.
During the middle part of the pregnancy we wouldn't want to venture any opinion, or if we have to provide an opinion it would be to use common sense and to be more inclined to play it safe than to take any risks.
There have been some messages on this message board previously about the advantages of stretching and exercising the vaginal muscles before giving birth. This could be a pleasurable as well as profitable activity to engage in during the last months of the pregnancy, and could be a substitute for fisting.
Finally, a disclaimer: Cindy and I don't have any medical expertise at all, and we would hate to have our advice taken as gospel truth and for something to then go wrong. So please seek additional advice elsewhere before making any decisions about what you're going to do.

Best to chat with your OB-GYN about any type of sex during pregnancy. Some will even allow stretching to prepare for delivery, but if there is an incompetent cervix problelm most doctors would advise against any deep penetration.
Only your doctor can advise you as every case is different.

Just to pick up on the stretching prior to childbirth.
When my gf had her first child she had to have an episiotomy. When she became pregnant again she was not looking forward to another episiotomy ( many of my profession do not give enough time for the local to work, the idiots). On one of her check ups we brought this up ( we were together by then). This hospital was trying to reduce the number of episiotomies by getting women to stretch themselves before their due date, to make the tissues more flexable.
The excercise consisted of inserting the index infingers of both handsback to back, then crooking the fingers a littleand then pushing them down towards your bottom, while moving them apart. You have to slowly repeat the process for ten to fifteen minutes each day.
I have to confess that as I watched the nurse instructing my girlfriend, I got very turned on. There infront of me my girlfriend was, to all intent and purpose except context, masturabting infront of a complete stranger ! (just not to orgasm).
After the nurse left and she was dressing to confessed to have become very turned on, and was glad that the lubricant she had been given to put on her fingers helped to mask it ! Needless to say when we got home I did some stretching for her.
I am happy to say that during hte birth she had no problems, and needed no cutting.
Regards
tyjardia

Tyjardia,
I have seen innumerable episiotomies that were done for the convenience of the OB to speed up the delivery and many times due to ignorance where the OB could not tell if there would be a small tear. Actually studies show small tears are less traumatic and less dangerous than the surgery. I personally avoided doing episiotomies unless absolutely necessary and did perineal ironing or massage in the last part of labor to spare ladies from surgery.
Many women who could easily have no tears or problems, are given episiotomies. A good example of this is Denni-O who has pictures of her on the internet doing tripple fisting. If you look at her perineum, you will see a very large (and probably painful) scar from a previous unneeded episiotomy... LOL
