Message:   Fisting going mainstream?

From: Thomas Ghia     Sent: 28 Sep. 2003     Message 1 of 5

The other day I was watching an American TV series called 'Sex and the City'. I had never watched an episode all the way through, but that day I went on because they a Brazilian actress as guest star (Sonia Braga). Anyway, one of the main characters, Samantha, I think, was having an affair with a lesbian, the guest star. She talked to her friends about her first lesbian experiences and said that fisting was much better than a penis. I was quite surprised as never imagined such theme wouldīve been brought up in a popular TV show. Does anyone here in the group follow the series? Iīm wondering if fisting has been discussed on it previously; just curious.

The only thing that made me a bit upset is the fact that suject came up from a lesbian relationship (nothing against lesbians), thus making it look like an 'exotic' sex practice, rather than something normal couples would engage into. Any comments?

ps: English is not my native language, so feel free to correct me.

Well a few things make me uneasy about it
1) that i know some kids that watch that show.
2)that kids being the experimental sort may attempt it and do great damage if not
more than that. Maybe even some adults maybe do the samething.
3)that someone that may never have thought of it may force it on there partner

As for the last part i agree. It sends the wrong message about fisting and relationships.

Wasn't there some fisting scene in Kubriks movie "eyes wide shut", but was cut out for the "mainstream" version ?

Hi, not sure about "Eyes Wide Shut" but I know there was some discussion
about lesbian fisting in the movie "Chasing Amy" and I thought it was very
hot.

Thanks, Jman

Qbert, I wouldnīt worry about kids getting the wrong message. The character who had tried fisting never said "fisting"; she just told her friend "this [and showed the familiar duck-shaped hand] is much better than this" [showed a finger]. I suppose many adults may have been left in the dark, too.

That said, I donīt think kids should watch the show; not because of this or that scene in particular, but because I donīt think itīs generally adequated for children. And if I were a child Iīd rather watch something else.
