Message:   Language usage

From: Cindy-CindyAndJoe     Sent: September 17, 1999     Message 1 of 12

Joe and I are Europeans, and have a fairly relaxed attitude to some words in the English language which others may find offensive. In particular, we have used the words "cunt" and "cock" liberally in the captions of the Cindy pictures.

I'm wondering if any members of this site find this to be a problem. In particular, I'm wondering if any female members of the site are so turned off by our usage of these words that it spoils their enjoyment of the pictures.

Just for the record, when we use the word "cunt" it is not our intention that any kind of negative meaning is implied. When Joe and I are in bed together both of us use the words "cunt" and "cock" (or their equivalents in our local language) in very loving ways.

Yours,
Cindy

how neat to explain the sensitivety of words...it show class on your part......I have used each word you mention inthe heat of passion and some women later told me it did in fact turn her off ...

I have the opposite experience. Those words used properly can be very erotic and a big turn on for both myself and my girlfriend. And its often she who uses them most frequent. Now I of course mean their swedish translation.

It seems to me that when you are discussing sexual parts or activities you can use clinical terms like vagina or penis, and sound like a medical textbook, babytalk like pussy or willy, and sound like, well, a baby, or adult terms and sound like an adult. Since this is not a medical community, nor a kindergarten, but a forum to explore certain sexual proclivities, and, indeed, to get turned on, then adult terminology is not only appropriate, but essential.

If some people cannot distinguish between the aggressive and demeaning use of such words, and their use to enhance sexuality, then perhaps your plain talking will help enlighten them

It's nice that some responses have started to appear on this thread.

The added meaning that we put on words is all very personal. For example, I find the word pussy rather off-putting. But I can understand that for other people it is other words that have strong negative connotations. I guess if you grow up in circles where "cunt" is used very derogatively then it is hard to disregard that aspect.

I guess what I'm most curious about is to what extent it is possible to use the word "cunt" without it necessarily being understood in a negative way. Since I didn't grow up with English as my first language this word to me is simply honest and direct, and has no additional meanings, which makes it hard for me to gauge other people's reactions.

Thank you for enlightning me a bit :-)

Yours,
Cindy

If you use the word 'cunt' as a personal epithet to designate a person it is always objectionable (though maybe well-deserved.) Used as the name for female genitalia it can be erotic and endearing, or simply crude. It depends on the context, and the user.
I share your distaste for the word 'pussy'. It seems both euphemistic and childlike. Not in the least erotic. But that is not the case in USA where it appears to be the standard. Chacun à son goût.
I, for one, will continue to refer to your magnificent, fantastic, elastic, epilated, ring-dangling genitalia as your cunt. So you should have no doubts about using this time-honoured term which indeed stems from 'Denmark', brought from there by the Angles and Jutes, progenitors of the English language.

Hi Dab,

The word "cunt" comes from Denmark? Neat!

But how do you know that? What's your source of information?

Yours,
Cindy

PS. Thanks for the picture. It's a beatiful fantasy. We hope to try out your tit bandaging idea later this week.

I don't want to bore you with etymolygy but the most concise explanation is as follows from the OED:

Cunt: Middle English 'cunte' from Danish dialect 'kunde' from old Frisian, Middle Low German, Middle Dutch, kunte, Old Germanic kunde, the female external genital organs

Sorry about this, we ain't a linguistic group, but you asked
Dab

Hi Dab,

No need to apologize. Just because we're a bunch of perverts doesn't necessarily mean that we're uneducated perverts :-)

The modern Danish word for cunt is "kusse", and I must admit that I'd never heard of "cunte" or "kunde" before.

Do you actually have a copy of the Oxford English Dictionary? If so, I'm impressed. Or is it available on the Web somewhere?

Yours,
Cindy

Since I was born in Germany and know a lot of European people, I too use English slang words like cunt and tits and is a fairly normal thing for me and the people I know.

I can't imagine too many people view these terms as unpopular or bad.

Being from the U.S., I would prefer using the term "Cunt" while engaged in such activities, however I would imagine my lover being more turned off by using such terms. I could be wrong in this assumption, but usually use the term "Pussy". I will ask my lover as to what term she prefer's

My wife is turned on by using dirty talk during our sexgames. Shes more turned on using them herself than hearing me use them though. And we dont use the english words. We are from sweden and all dirty language between us is held in swedish *smile*
